Founded in 2022, Cooperativa Aljiri unites 19 smallholder coffee
producers in the Collasuyo community of Caranavi. The
cooperative was established to connect farmers directly with
specialty coffee buyers while improving the livelihoods of their
families through quality-focused production.
Coffee is hand-picked at peak ripeness and fully washed using
clean water. Farms prioritize sustainable practices, including
organic fertilization with coffee husks, agroforestry systems, and
avoiding synthetic agrochemicals. Alongside expanding both
production and quality, the cooperative also promotes gender
equality through its “Matriarcas: Un Café con Igualdad” initiative.
